What I've been up to lately... (Recent Past & Into the Future)

D.S. Martin is once again be teaching the course ENG 306 Writing Poetry at Redeemer University in Ancaster, Ontario from January through April 2026.
He will also be presenting a poetry reading at the Redeemer Library on January 26th at 11 AM ― rescheduled to February 23rd at 11 AM due to a snowstorm.
As Poet-in-Residence at McMaster Divinity College he frequently is featured at an MDC Chapel Service ― as he will be on the 20th of January 2026.

Three of his recent essays have appeared in connection to McMaster Divinity College. ONE: "Poetry and the Transcendent" in Secularism and the Pursuit of Transcendence.

TWO: "The Value of Praise: Pride and Prejudice as a Portrait of Who We Are as Worshippers" in Volume 24 of the McMaster Journal of Theology and Ministry.

THREE: "Polishing Mirrors for Heaven," by Philip Yancey and D.S. Martin, also in Volume 24 of the McMaster Journal of Theology and Ministry (An essay about the work of Romanian sculptor Liviu Mocan, and about Jill Peláez Baumgaertner's poetry collection The Shapes are Real, which is inspired by Mocan's work).
D.S. Martin's eight poems known as The Blessings, have been published in pairs over four issues of The Christian Century ― August, September, October and November 2024.
19 of his poems are featured at Reformed Journal over the 19 months from January 2023 to July 2024. These poems are inspired by John Donne's 19 Holy Sonnets.
D.S. Martin contributed to dynamic events at the 2024 Festival of Faith & Writing, including the Poiema Poetry Series Reception, on the Thursday (check out the group photo), and the Christian Century reception on the Friday ― held at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

For more than ten years, D.S. Martin has blogged, and continues to blog, about Poets and Poetry of the Christian faith on his  Kingdom Poets Blog Check it out! There's a new post every Monday.

On the McMaster Divinity College website, you can also read the web journal Poems For Ephesians, which first appeared in September of 2018.

D.S. Martin participated in various online events during the pandemic: a literary panel for Poetry Festival Singapore, August 1, 2021 ― being keynote speaker for the 2021 Fall Conference of the Inscribe Christian Writers' Fellowship, October 1 & 2, Edmonton, Alberta ― and reading for the launch of the anthology A Given Grace (Squircle Line Press) for the festival Poetry On The Move 2021 (Canberra, Australia) October 14-18. (Now available here).
